Epilepsy & Seizures

Cannabis, encompassing compounds like cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), has emerged as a potential treatment avenue for epilepsy patients, especially those grappling with treatment-resistant forms of the condition. While CBD has garnered attention for its role in reducing seizures, THC, the psychoactive component in cannabis, has also shown potential in modulating seizure activity. The interaction of both cannabinoids with the endocannabinoid system appears to regulate neuronal excitability and potentially suppress seizures. Epidiolex, an FDA-approved medication primarily containing CBD, has exhibited efficacy in reducing seizure frequency in specific epilepsy forms.
